We are happy to announce the launch of the autumn activities for kids and grownups at the Hortus Urbis.

Starting from Sunday SEPTEMBER 29th 2013 from 10am at HORTUS URBIS, the garden with solely ancient Roman plants in the Appia Antica Park, new open air activities for kids and families will take place every Sunday.

Program:

11am – 12.45am Workshop for kids ages 5-10 | “Orto che parla”

Children will give voice to the garden’s plants preparing the plant markers after having explored, smelled, touched and learned their stories

Suggested donation. Reservations on the spot

12am – 5pm Exhibit | Watercolors in the garden

Exhibition opening of this Summer’s painting class of Gioia Marchegiani, painter and illustrator. On the occasion the Autumn painting classes will be presented: open air lessons in the garden, for kids and adults on weekends

1pm – 2.30pm EU’s Pic nic with garden products

3pm – 4pm Workshop for kids ages 4-10 | “Bimbi all’orto”

Gardening with children

3pm – 5pm | Seed and plant swap

The event is addressed to all: keen gardeners and horticulturists, adults and children, families and beginners. It is where we make seed trading with others easy and convenient. Do you have more seeds than you need for your garden next year? Would you like to have hard-to-find seeds for your garden and not pay a lot of money?

No charge

  • 10am – 4pm Sala Appia, Exhibit of the forgotten apples once cultivated in Italy

How to reach us

Hortus Urbis at the former paper mill “ Cartiera Latina”, via Appia Antica, 42 or 50 (near the fountain)

Bike: Cristoforo Colombo bike route and Circonvallazione Ardeatina.

Bus: 118 and 218 on the Appia Antica (Domine Quo Vadis stop) or 30express, 714 and 715 (Cristoforo Colombo/Bavastro stop or Cristoforo Colombo/Circonvallazione Ostiense stop) and then short walk along the Circonvallazione Ardeatina in the Scott Park.

Car: parking at via Carlo Conti Rossini, Largo Gavaligi, via Omboni, via Scott and surroundings and then short walk along the Circonvallazione Ardeatina in the Scott Park.
