Sunday November 10th at 11 am we are pleased to invite you to the autumn outdoor activities of the Hortus Urbis, the garden in the Appia Antica Park with solely ancient Roman plants, with hands on creative activities.

At  11am – PANE E OLIO | Food&Taste Education, by Slow Food

The process of olive oil’s production and the making of bread will be the core of an exciting lab which will take place in the Hortus Urbis: oil tasting on slices of bread that will be toasted using the adobe oven, built using ancient traditional technique. Andrea Russo (Slow Food, Rome) will teach the children and will share with them the taste of  fresh, new made olive oil on bread. An appointment for youngsters and their families – a playful approach to recognize and value good food on our tables.

4 years onwards

Costs: suggested donation to support the Slow Food project: “A Thousand Gardens in Africa”

Registration: 15 minutes before the beginning of the workshop

Length: about 60 minutes

At 11 am and 12 am – DOVE VA IL VENTO? | Workshop for kids, by StudioArturo

There are cocks who tell you when daytime arrives others where the wind goes… each child will build its own personalized wind cock.

Length: about 50 minutes

How to reach us

Hortus Urbis at the former paper mill “ Cartiera Latina”, via Appia Antica, 42 or 50 (near the fountain)

Bike: Cristoforo Colombo bike route and Circonvallazione Ardeatina.

Bus: 118 and 218 on the Appia Antica (Domine Quo Vadis stop) or 30express, 714 and 715 (Cristoforo Colombo/Bavastro stop or Cristoforo Colombo/Circonvallazione Ostiense stop) and then short walk along the Circonvallazione Ardeatina in the Scott Park.

Car: parking at via Carlo Conti Rossini, Largo Gavaligi, via Omboni, via Scott and surroundings and then short walk along the Circonvallazione Ardeatina in the Scott Park.
